In Hinduism a Sadhu is a religious holy person. They are solely dedicated to achieving moksa (liberation) through meditation and contemplation and generally leave behind all material attachments. There are 4 to 5 million Sadhu’s in India today. They are supported by donations as they are thought to burn off a community’s bad karma thus seen to benefit society.
