
For the next three hours, we are spellbound by the castle’s elegance and grace. It rises from the lake’s depths as if built on nothing but water. The walls span 30 meters vertically, forming an imposing, impassable fortress against attack from the water. It is a grand architectural achievement that must have impressed the local farmers 800 years ago as much as it impresses us today. We paddle around its perimeter and then back again and then around once more under the setting sun.
